Cross-Disciplinary Track: Eco-Design of Materials
The Eco-Design of Materials track is a cross-disciplinary option open to 5th-year engineering students from the Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Physical Engineering departments.
Admission
This option is aimed at:
- Polytech Clermont engineering students admitted to the final year of the engineering cycle;
- Engineering students from another Polytech network school admitted to the final year of the engineering cycle;
- Engineering students seeking specialized training in bio-based materials;
- Engineering students interested in the economic aspects related to sustainable development.
Program
- A two-semester program (30 ECTS each). The first semester consists of 400 hours, including 250 hours of scientific training, 75 hours of cross-skills (elective), and 75 hours of Humanities and Social Sciences (including 51.5 hours specifically dedicated to the professional project).
- A one-semester internship in a company in the field of bio-based materials and/or sustainable development.
Context
Engineers who complete the Eco-Design of Materials track will play a key role in the green economy and the industrial development of the future. As experts in material properties, they will be able to assess the technical relevance of their use. Their tasks will include designing, characterizing, and optimizing bio-based materials by optimizing material selection and promoting the use of biopolymers, bio-based plastics, agro-composites, and/or plant fibers. They will be aware of the economic challenges related to sustainable development.
